Step into a meaningful nursing role supporting students’ health and well-being in a dynamic school environment near Berkeley, CA. This full-time contract position is perfect for a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) looking to make a daily impact. The assignment runs from August through October, with potential for extension.

Work closely with students in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through 8th grade, playing a key part on-site 4 to 5 days per week. Each day typically spans 4 to 6 hours, with Wednesday offering a shortened schedule for work-life balance. Responsibilities include all aspects of general school nursing, with a special focus on supporting and monitoring two students—a 6th grader and a kindergartner—managing diabetes care, ensuring their health needs are met throughout the school day.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active RN or LPN/LVN license in California
  • Prior experience in school nursing, pediatric care, or working with students is highly desirable
  • Solid understanding of diabetes management, including insulin administration and glucose monitoring
  • Ability to respond effectively to various health needs and emergencies within a school setting
  • Strong communication and organizational skills to liaise with teachers, parents, and healthcare professionals
  • Commitment to maintaining student confidentiality and adhering to school health policies
  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering general nursing care to TK-8th grade students
  • Providing dedicated diabetes management and comprehensive health support to two identified students
  • Recording accurate health documentation and medication administration as per state and school protocols
  • Acting as a resource for staff and families on health matters and wellness
