Position Overview
Soliant Education is seeking a dedicated School Registered Nurse (RN) to support students and staff within a school district in Oak Park, Illinois for the 2026–2027 academic year. This full-time contract opportunity is primarily assigned to one middle school campus; however, flexibility to provide nursing support at other district locations when needed is required. The selected professional will play an important role in promoting student health, supporting educational success, and maintaining a safe learning environment.
This position is ideal for a compassionate healthcare professional who enjoys working with school-aged students and collaborating with educators, families, and district personnel. The nurse will provide direct health services, manage student medical needs, and help ensure compliance with school health policies and procedures. Strong communication skills and a student-centered approach are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
The School RN will assess and address student health concerns while delivering appropriate nursing care throughout the school day. Responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring chronic health conditions, responding to medical emergencies, and maintaining accurate health documentation. The nurse will also communicate with families, healthcare providers, and school staff regarding student wellness and care plans.
Additional duties may include conducting health screenings, supporting immunization compliance, and assisting with the development and implementation of individualized healthcare plans. The nurse will collaborate with district personnel to promote health education and ensure students have access to the support needed to thrive academically and socially. Occasional travel between school sites within the district may be required based on operational needs.
Requirements
Qualified candidates must hold an active Registered Nurse (RN) license and possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Previous experience in pediatric, school-based, public health, or community healthcare settings is preferred but not required. Candidates should demonstrate strong clinical judgment, organizational abilities, and effective interpersonal communication skills.
Applicants must be comfortable working independently while also functioning as part of a multidisciplinary team. The ability to adapt to changing priorities and provide support across district locations when needed is important. All candidates must meet applicable district and state employment requirements prior to starting the assignment.
Compensation and Benefits
This contract position offers a competitive hourly rate ranging from $37 to $47 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Soliant Education provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision insurance coverage. Eligible employees also have access to a 401(k) retirement plan and weekly pay throughout the duration of the assignment.
