Make a real impact in students’ lives by providing essential nursing care in a supportive school environment just outside Windsor, NY. This contract role offers the opportunity to work 3 to 4 days each week, with duties beginning at a student’s home and continuing throughout the school day. Your morning will start at 8:45 AM, riding the bus alongside two students requiring skilled nursing support. School concludes at 1:00 PM, and after ensuring safe transport home, your day typically ends around 1:20 PM.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Bus supervision for two students with seizure disorders, with quick intervention for emergency seizure medication as needed (though this past year, neither student has required medications).
  • Monitoring and attending to a student who requires regular trach suctioning, temperature checks, and the use of a pulse oximeter for heart rate and oxygen saturation monitoring.
  • Communicating promptly and effectively with school staff and families regarding health observations and intervention needs.
  • Supporting one student throughout the school day, providing personalized nursing care and tracking health indicators to ensure safety and comfort, especially regarding temperature regulation and respiratory needs.
  • Desired experience and qualifications:

  • Active RN license in New York State.
  • Experience with pediatric nursing, preferred in a school or community setting.
  • Competency in emergency seizure care, trach management, suctioning, and pulse oximetry.
  • Dependability, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and communicative under pressure.
