Step into an advanced nursing environment with a specialized assignment in a dynamic stepdown/ICU overflow unit. This contract role focuses on providing exceptional care to a diverse patient population requiring both intermediate and intensive monitoring. The unit features 10 beds dedicated to ICU/PCU overflow, supported by experienced charge nurses and a collaborative team-oriented culture.

Schedule/Hours:

  • 12-hour shifts
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday support as needed
  • Qualifications:

  • Current RN license with active standing
  • Recent Medical ICU experience in a large healthcare setting
  • Proficient in hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management
  • Advanced critical care skills, including administration of IV sedation, paralytics, vasopressors, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
  • Experience with central line management and assisting with bedside procedures (e.g., chest tube insertion, intubations)
  • Certifications: BLS and ACLS required
  • Critical thinker who demonstrates flexibility and teamwork
  • Comfortable floating to other areas as needed
  • Responsibilities:

  • Provide patient-centered care utilizing bedside shift reporting and nurse leader rounding
  • Manage patients with complex needs, monitoring critical changes and responding rapidly
  • Collaborate closely with providers during procedures and interventions at the bedside
  • Operate advanced equipment such as ventilators, Targeted Temperature Management systems, and IV pumps
  • Document thoroughly using the Cerner system
  • Maintain a professional appearance in required navy blue or white scrubs
