Step into an impactful contract role as a Registered Nurse, providing essential care for a student with unique medical needs in a school-based environment near Elizabeth, NJ. This hands-on opportunity runs from June 1 through June 26, 2026, with daytime hours of 8am to 3pm, Monday through Friday. You'll work closely with a young student diagnosed with Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (INAD), who requires skilled and compassionate nursing support.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active RN license in New Jersey
  • Demonstrated pediatric nursing experience (required)
  • Previous experience in a school or similar pediatric setting preferred
  • Confidence in managing NG-tube (nasogastric tube) care (not a G-tube)
  • Ability to provide safe lifting and transport for a non-ambulatory child weighing approximately 24 lbs
  • Willingness to accompany student on bus transport as part of the daily routine
  • Exceptional communication skills and a collaborative approach within multidisciplinary teams
  • CPR and First Aid certifications (current)

    • Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct support and daily medical care for a 3-year-old student throughout the school day
  • Administer NG-tube feedings and monitor for any medical issues
  • Safely lift and transport the student in accordance with care protocols
  • Monitor health status and promptly address any changes or emergencies
  • Coordinate with educational staff and family to ensure holistic student support
  • Maintain detailed health records and communication logs
  • Uphold best practices within school nursing standards and compliance guidelines
