This contracted assignment spans the full academic year, offering you the opportunity to deliver consistent, compassionate care to a 9th-grade male student with significant healthcare needs.

Your nursing skills will be essential in supporting a student who has a tracheostomy, uses a wheelchair, and requires assistance with mobility throughout the school day. The position is scheduled for 32.5 hours per week, with hours from 7:15 am to 2:00 pm, aligning with the school calendar from September 10, 2026, to June 25, 2027.

Qualifications:

  • Current NY Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • Fingerprint clearance for NY schools
  • Experience in pediatric or school nursing settings preferred
  • Competency in managing tracheostomies and mobility equipment
  • Ability to foster a supportive and safe environment for students with disabilities
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide skilled, 1:1 nursing care for a high school student throughout the school day
  • Manage tracheostomy care and address any mobility-related needs
  • Administer medications and carry out physician-directed interventions
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and family to support the student’s health and learning
  • Maintain accurate records of care and respond promptly to changing medical needs
