Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active LPN or RN license (New York state required)
  • Previous experience in a school setting or pediatric care is highly valued
  • Confidence in diabetes management, including blood glucose monitoring and medication administration
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with students, families, and faculty
  • Ability to maintain detailed, accurate health records in compliance with school policies

  • Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 nursing care to a high school student with diabetes during school hours
  • Monitor health status, respond to medical needs, and administer medication or treatment as prescribed
  • Accompany designated student on bus rides during specified hours, ensuring safety and preparedness for any healthcare needs
  • Educate and support staff regarding the student's care plan as appropriate
  • Foster a secure, nurturing environment, addressing any emergencies promptly and professionally
  • Communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, and school personnel regarding student health
