Step into a critical role supporting surgical teams by providing top-notch care, technical skills, and a commitment to patient safety. This contract position focuses on delivering professional support in the operating room, emphasizing surgical scrub technique, sterile procedure maintenance, and collaborative care. You'll play a key role in ensuring both the smooth flow of surgical cases and a safe environment for patients and staff.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Choose between five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts weekly; evening shifts end at 11:30pm (options: 3:00pm–11:30pm or 1:00pm–11:30pm).
  • Rotating call schedule: one weekend every 3–4 weeks (Saturday and Sunday, evening hours).
  • 1 to 2 night call shifts per week (11:30pm–7:00am), with shifts immediately following scheduled weekend call.
  • Qualifications:

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent ORT certification required.
  • Demonstrated experience in a general operating room setting.
  • Strong knowledge of sterile technique and infection control policies.
  • Effective team communication and patient safety focus.
  • Ability to anticipate the needs of surgical teams and respond quickly to dynamic OR environments.
  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain aseptic and sterile technique practices before and during procedures.
  • Support the surgeon with gowning, gloving, draping, passing instruments, and handling surgical items as needed.
  • Prepare for cases by assembling supplies, identifying needs, and caring for equipment.
  • Track and account for surgical items, ensuring a safe and organized operative field.
  • Handle specimens safely and expedite room turnovers efficiently.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for colleagues, including new OR personnel.
  • Take part in rotating on-call duty and complete additional related assignments as requested.
