Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide dedicated 1:1 nursing support to students in an Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) setting. The student has significant medical and mobility needs and requires continuous adult support throughout the school day to safely access the curriculum and participate in learning activities.
Student Medical Needs
The LPN will support a student with:
Seizure disorder and an established seizure action plan
Asthma and an established asthma action plan
G-tube feeding
Significant mobility needs
Additional physical and medical support throughout the school day
Key Responsibilities
Provide continuous 1:1 nursing care and monitoring throughout the school day.
Follow and implement the student's seizure, asthma, and G-tube care plans.
Provide G-tube feedings and other nursing interventions as directed.
Monitor the student for changes in medical status and respond appropriately to emergencies.
Assist with mobility and safe transitions throughout the school environment.
Provide additional adult support to help the student safely access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities.
Collaborate with teachers, school staff, families, and healthcare providers.
Maintain accurate nursing documentation and follow all applicable school and healthcare policies.
Ride the school bus with the student as part of the nursing support plan.
Qualifications
Current Michigan LPN license required.
Pediatric, school nursing, or special education healthcare experience preferred.
Experience with seizure management, asthma care, G-tube feeding, and mobility support strongly preferred.
Ability to provide attentive, compassionate, and reliable 1:1 care.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
