Private School Head Nurse - Atlanta, GA

Soliant is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Nurse for a dynamic school-based role in Atlanta, GA. This is a full-time leadership position, ideal for a nursing professional who excels in providing oversight, support, and ensuring the highest standards of care. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Use clinical knowledge to make key nursing decisions and provide oversight to the nursing team, ensuring compliance with Georgia Board of Nursing rules.
  • Oversee hiring, development, and dismissal of nursing staff.
  • Administer and document medications per established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure nursing policies are efficient, safe, and effective, maintaining thorough documentation, especially in emergency situations.
  • Maintain a clean and safe Health Center, ensuring proper supplies and adherence to standard precautions.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with school personnel, students, and families.
  • Ensure compliance with immunization requirements (Form 3231) for all students.
  • Respond to emergencies and administer first aid/emergency medications in line with campus protocols.
  • Collaborate with various departments to support the whole-child approach, including counseling, sports medicine, security, and fine arts.
  • Maintain and update health records, incident reports, and ensure compliance with communicable disease reporting laws.
  • Ensure Health Center readiness by refreshing supplies, updating medical forms, and ensuring AED functionality before the start of each school year.

    Position Requirements:

  • Active, unencumbered State of Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license (BSN required).
  • Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with school or pediatric experience preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Current with CEU requirements for Georgia nursing licensure.
  • Specialized continuing education in pediatric conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, concussion).
  • Active CPR/AED/first aid certification.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency with health record systems.
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with students, families, and school staff.
