Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) – Albany, NY
Location: Albany, NY
Position Type: Full-Time, Contract (Travel RN)

Start Date: ASAP

We are currently seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) for an immediate travel contract position in Albany, NY. This position requires a strong background in vascular surgery and orthopedic surgery, with expertise in circulating and some scrub experience. The ideal candidate will have at least 2+ years of current OR experience, including proficiency with DaVinci X1 Robot and strong familiarity with EPIC EMR. The hospital operates 14 OR rooms, including coverage in Labor & Delivery for C-sections.

Position Overview:

Shift: Days (Full-time)

Position: Primarily circulating OR RN (Scrub experience a plus)

Surgical Specialties Covered: All specialties except cardiac and ophthalmology

Patient Population: Pediatric to Adult

Operating Room Details: 14 operating rooms with coverage in Labor & Delivery for C-sections

Average Procedures per Day: Approximately 50

EMR: EPIC

Traveler Requirement: Must have your own vehicle (no exceptions)

Required Qualifications:

Minimum 2+ years of recent Operating Room (OR) RN experience in a hospital setting

Strong skills in Vascular Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery are a must

DaVinci X1 Robot experience required

Scrub and Circulating experience – Circulating is the primary role, but scrub experience is highly desirable

Travel experience is required (no exceptions)

EPIC EMR experience is mandatory

Current and valid RN license

Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

Traveler candidates must have their own vehicle – this is a firm requirement

Job Responsibilities:

Provide high-quality patient care in the OR, primarily in a circulating nurse role, with some scrub duties as needed.

Assist with the preparation and management of surgical instruments and equipment.

Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other OR team members to ensure safe and efficient surgeries.

Provide patient education and support to patients and families before, during, and after surgical procedures.

Ensure all documentation is accurate and timely, using EPIC EMR for patient records.

Follow infection control protocols and maintain a sterile environment at all times.

Assist in labor and delivery for C-sections as needed.

Additional Information:

Operating Rooms: 14 ORs, including Labor & Delivery (C-sections)

No cardiac or ophthalmology procedures performed in this unit.
