Full-Time RN/LPN Position in Lansing, KS

Blazer Jobs is proud to partner with the Lansing School District to fill an immediate opening for a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). This is a full-time, onsite position for the current school year, offering a 37.5-hour workweek.

Job Details:

  • Caseload: 1:1 Skilled Nursing Support
  • Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one care for a student requiring tracheostomy and gastrostomy support.
  • Ensure the student’s "go bag" (supplied by the parent) is with them at all times and contains necessary and emergency equipment.
  • Perform clean catheterization using an 8FR catheter every 2 hours and 30 minutes throughout the day (as needed).
  • Assist with toileting and catheterization, ensuring hygiene and comfort.
  • Administer blended diet feedings and provide 150 mL of water every 2 hours following feedings.
  • Conduct blood sugar checks and suction treatments as needed.
  • Monitor oxygen saturation with a pulse oximeter and provide supplemental oxygen when required.
  • Perform trach replacement, if necessary.
  • Use an Ambu bag to ventilate in case of breathing emergencies.
  • Follow aspiration precautions, including maintaining patient elevation during feeds and water boluses.
  • Respond to gagging or vomiting due to environmental or sensory triggers.

    Medical Equipment and Conditions:

  • Tracheostomy: Size 4.0 cuffless Peds Bivona Flextend; use trach cap as tolerated (once daily for 15 minutes).
  • Gastrostomy: 12F 2.0 Mini One Balloon Button; maintain with 2.5 mL of water.
  • Emergency response protocols are in place, including 911 calls for critical situations.

    Compensation:

  • Starting at $38/hour for RNs and $32/hour for LPNs.
