Exciting Opportunity for a School Registered Nurse (RN) in Santa Barbara, CA

School Nurse (CA Credential)

Location: Santa Barbara, CA

Discipline: RN

Dates: August 12, 2024 - June 6, 2025

Hours: TBD

Caseload/Details: Currently gathering details. Onsite.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) - NO EXCEPTIONS
  • Active California RN state license required.

    Credentialing:

  • Current California credential holder, or
  • BSN with a commitment to apply for a preliminary credential from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC)
  • Allowed 5 years to complete 24 units

    Responsibilities:

  • Provide healthcare services to PreK-8 students in a school setting.
  • Address classroom inquiries related to student health concerns (e.g., rash, fever).
  • Provide specialized care to 2 classrooms with medically fragile/chronically ill students.
  • Conduct health assessments for Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and participate in some IEP meetings.
  • Document services provided and conduct staff training, particularly at the beginning of the school year.
  • Train staff on specialized physical health care needs such as medication administration, g-tube, and seizure monitoring.
  • Manage state reporting duties, including immunizations.
  • Conduct vision and hearing screenings for students.

    Additional Information:

  • Collaboration with contractors who may have completed coursework or moved on to new assignments is required.
  • Close collaboration with school staff, students, and families is crucial to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment.
