Advance your nursing career in a dynamic and high-acuity Step Down Unit (SDU) with this contract opportunity for experienced ICU Registered Nurses. This critical role supports patients through complex care situations and surgical recoveries, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide exceptional clinical outcomes on the night shift.

Schedule:

36 hours per week (three 12-hour shifts)

7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Every third weekend rotation

One winter and one summer holiday required

Desired Qualifications:

Active RN license (New Jersey)

At least 1 year of recent ICU nursing experience

Current BLS and ACLS certifications

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred)

Strong assessment, documentation, and patient education skills

Proficiency with emergency equipment, patient safety protocols, and safe transfer techniques

Excellent verbal and written communication in English

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver comprehensive nursing assessments across the lifespan, from pediatric to geriatric populations

Provide direct patient care in alignment with unit protocols, demonstrating expert knowledge of ICU/SDU procedures, equipment, and emergency response

Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of patient status, education, and progress toward care goals in accordance with clinical guidelines

Individualize perioperative care and patient education, actively involving families and supporting optimal surgical outcomes

Foster a patient-centered environment by collaborating professionally with patients, families, and interdisciplinary colleagues

Ensure compliance with HIPAA and national patient safety goals, consistently employing safe practices and universal protocols

Contribute meaningfully to pre-admission testing processes and timely follow-through on patient testing and education needs

$1,959 - $2,143/Week Estimated weekly earnings represent hourly wages, based on 36 hours per week, and expense reimbursement for eligible candidates. The actual amount may vary based on hours worked, eligibility for reimbursements, and seasonal adjustments.
